The Boardwalk at 31st Street
To Benefit ALS Research & JT's Camp Grom

Bruce Thompson

Welcome to Bruce Thompson team.

Dear Friends,

This Sunday the 4th Annual JT Walk and Beach Party will take place in honor of my son, Josh, who continues to battle the hideous and most cruel of all diseases, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Over the past three years, we  have raised millions of dollars that has gone directly, unfiltered to research scientists to work on stem cell therapies to fight all neuromuscular diseases and provide hope for Josh and all persons who suffer from currently incurable and terminal neurological diseases.  Additionally, having learned firsthand of the struggles of persons with disabilities, experiences in gaining  access to facilities that the healthy take for granted, the monies we raised went directly to constructing the first ever fully accessible Beach Park and Playground for Every Body (Grommet Island).

This year, once again, we will use the proceeds to provide grants directly to the pre-eminent researchers in the world developing stem cell therapies for patients suffering with terminal and debilitating neuromuscular diseases! We will continue to fund the endowment for Grommet Island and we will purchase a kid-friendly ambulance (something very fun to look at and ride in) for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters!

We have a very ambitious goal of raising $1.2 Million and we are almost there! The weather forecast looks amazing so the walk and the HUGE beach party will be fantastic (Beach Party - 7 bands, food and beverages, two-acre kids park with everything from inflatables to cotton candy, etc.).

If you have already signed up then Josh and I thank you! If you have not, then I would ask you to consider joining us Sunday.  If you are unable to join us Sunday, but would like to help you can donate to me as a walker and I promise I will walk the whole boardwalk more than once! But if you can join us Sunday, you will enjoy a special experience!

There truly is some very unique energy that is created when 5,000, or more folks show up all for the same purpose and fill the boardwalk! And then they, young and old alike, celebrate with a beach party of gargantuan scale! The thought of knowing you participated in raising over $1 Million, while having a great time and the realization of how the quality of life for so many will change immediately with the physical improvements (park and ambulance we begin construction on the day after the event) and the hope we provide to the hopeless that we are working to fund the research that one day will provide a cure. Being on our beautiful beach on a perfect Fall day with sure and certain knowledge that you did good this day is an amazing sensation! Please consider joining us this Sunday!

God Bless you and again Thank You!

Bruce and Josh
