Josh Thompson's love of surfing and the ocean has been a huge part of his life since a very young age. As a young man he began participating in various surfing industry initiatives right here in Virginia Beach and around the world. Even today from his "bed" his love of the sport endures and he continues to follow the careers and events of the current and previous surfing icons. While his love of the sport continues to carry on, Josh's condition does not allow him to enjoy what many of us would agree are the greatest benefits of life in Virginia Beach- Surfing, Sandcastles, Sunning and just watching the waves roll in. And like Josh, there are thousands of people here in the Hampton Roads area that USED to have to stop at the edge of the Boardwalk. Thanks to your generous support and a portion of the proceeds from the 2009 JT WALK AND BEACH PARTY we were able to build the first ever oceanfront park for the disabled in America. The use of JT's Grommet Island Park for EveryBODY has exceeded even our greatest expectations! Both young and old have finally enjoyed their day at the beach. Please join us again as we walk to not only raise money for the local ALS Chapter but also create an Endowment for the expansion and preservation of the park as well as help contribute to the ongoing Stem Cell Research through unrestricted Grants. We need your help. Together we have done so much . Yet there's more for us to do.
